Anonymous asked: Hi I'm actually interested in becoming a photographer myself but not sure where to begin. What camera would you recommend for someone starting out and what advice/tips can you give for someone aspiring to take great pictures?
Well it really depends on what photos you want to take. Any Dslr is good for beginners. The most important advice I could give you is: shoot every no matter what. Take a photo with your phone if you have to. And never settle on your work. Do things differently.
Anonymous asked: Hi Im really interested in becoming a photographer I was just wondering how you make you money ? Thank you :) hope its not to personal!
What money? I’m not making a living from photography yet. I am essentially taking these photos for myself. I have had commissions, but not nearly enough to be considered real income. However, I’m working on a brand new website right now which will feature a built in, easy to use, print shop that will have prints as low as $40. So I’m hoping some people will be interested in supporting me and picking up some great art as well. :)
Anonymous asked: Happy Valentines Day, Mr. Zank. I hope you're planning on capturing a picture or pictures related to Valentines. Something "Valentine-ish", you know? I am sure your fans would love to see it! Good luck and have fun.
I could take a photo of some melted chocolate with my iphone if you want.
Anonymous asked: Sorry, I just want to let you know that your pictures have the ability to brighten a depressive person's heart in someway. This is you making a huge difference to the world. To people like me. Please continue and thank you. Thank you so much.
Don’t be sorry. I’m glad you let me know this. Although I haven’t ever been diagnosed with depression, and therefore cannot possibly imagine what you may be feeling, I am absolutely floored that my photographs have had such a positive impact on your life. It gives me even more motivation to continue doing what I love. *internet hug*
Anonymous asked: Let me rephrase. How did you get the people under ice? The one of the girl looks like it's in a bathtub or something?
I didn’t even take that photograph. My friend, Brooke, did. She’s an incredible person and wickedly talented. go ask her: brookedidonato
auspicious-nature asked: How does one ween off the auto?
By not using it at all. Yeah, your pictures will look like shit at first, but that’s how you’ll learn. I still use aperture and shutter priority when shooting in rapidly changing conditions, but full auto is for people who are afraid to fail.
Don’t be afraid to fail.
